This mug is one of a kind. The listing is for the mug pictured above.
The Frou Frou mugs are all unique. They are inspired by the renaissance dresses, the corsets, the crinolines and the likes. Frou Frou means frills in French, but it also means so much more. It relates to the superfluous layers we wear to impress, but suffocate us on the long run. It relates to everything we do in the name of beauty, to embellish what is raw and judged not enough.
This mug was made from semi porcelain clay, thrown thin on the pottery wheel, hand pulled comfy handle added, carefully decorated by hand, and stamped with my mark on the bottom. It was then slowly dried and cleaned, and first fired.
The decoration part is somewhat of a lengthy process involving the use of multiple glazes to reach the complex layering effect and beautiful range of colors. Each mug is unique as each application involves some randomness and the heat really plays with the colors and movement of the glazes.
Then the mugs are fired for a second time to 2200 F in my own cozy home studio. This high firing temperature ensures durability to the piece.
Premium 8% gold luster was applied by hand and the mug was refired to 900 F.
The gemstone (here a beautiful quartz point) was carefully added post firing with strong bond water resistant silicon glue on the handle. The silicon glue provide some shock absorbency properties to the mug, and it is normal that the gemstone will "wiggle" slightly if you push on it.
The glazes are lead free and food safe. ****HANDWASH*** ***NO MICROWAVE***

1) I do not do wholesale or consignment, but thank you for your interest.
2) I do not have pre-orders or custom orders for the time being.
3) why is some of your work so expensive? All of my sculptural pieces and highly decorated pieces are highly invested in time, materials, and number of firings. I multi-fired 3-5 times some pieces, and everything is done by my 2 hands with love and intention. I consider my pottery functional art, as every piece is unique and has a story. Thank you for allowing yourself luxury!
I am currently closed for custom and personalized orders.
No wholesale at this time.
